FBCCI urges NBR to extend tax return filing deadline till Nov 30

FE Report | Sunday, 2 November 2014

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) called upon the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Saturday to extend the deadline further for submitting income tax returns until November 30, 2014.
The apex trade body has sent a letter to the Chairman of NBR to consider further time extension for submitting the returns.
The letter of FBCCI said, "Many taxpayers including businessmen and other categories of professionals could not submit their returns due mainly to the holidays for Eid-ul-Azha and Duga Puja last month. Besides, the ongoing hartal has been hampering movement. As a result the taxpayers could not submit their returns on time," the apex trade body said in a statement issued on the day.
Earlier, the NBR had extended the deadline for submission of income tax returns to October 16. Later, the deadline for submitting the income tax return was extended to November 2, 2014.
"Under the present circumstances, the FBCCI on behalf of different professional bodies call upon the government to extend the income tax submission deadline until November 30, 2014 to help increase revenue collection," the statement mentioned.
