FBCCI wants on-arrival-visa in Belarus

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Monday called for taking necessary measures for 'On-arrival-Visa' for Bangladeshi businessmen and resolving payment system for expanding bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Belarus.
FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed made the call at the "2nd Bangladesh-Belarus Business Council Meeting" organized by FBCCI at its office on the day where Aliaksandr Fedarchuk, Director General of Minsk Department of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI), Mr. Sergei Trotsuk, First Secretary of the Embassy of Belarus in New Delhi, Delegates of BelCCI and Belarus were also present.
The FBCCI president requested his Belarusian counterpart to resolve formal payment system (banking), to take initiative for issuing on-arrival-visa and set up a trade office here on a priority basis.
Talking about the issue, Mr. Aliaksandr Fedarchuk of the BelCCI stressed on the importance of increased business interaction between the two sides, saying that exhibition of potential products on regular basis can be a suitable method for promoting business.
Mr. Sergei Trotsuk, First Secretary of the Embassy of Belarus in New Delhi said that both the countries have been working to complete formal procedures to resolve the visa and banking issues.
FBCCI first vice president Mrs Monowara Hakim Ali said both sides have developed cultural relations along with economic affairs. She emphasized on developing tourism and high-tech sector.
Both Dhaka and Minsk signed 7 Agreements and 5 MoUs (memorandum of understandings) covering a wide range of bilateral cooperation including promotion and protection of investments as well as cooperation on agriculture, education, science and technology since last five years.
Among them, FBCCI also signed an agreement to set up a Joint Business Council with the BelCC.
For FY 2012-2013, Bangladesh's export to Belarus was worth US$ 3.98 million and import from Belarus stood at US$108.60 million.
