FE Editor made director of Southeast Bank

AHM Moazzem Hossain, Editor of The Financial Express has been elected director of Southeast Bank Limited from among the depositors, says a press release.
As recommended by the board of directors of the bank, his appointment as a director from the bank's depositors was also approved by Bangladesh Bank on October 8, 2008.
Moazzem Hossain, a BA (Hons) and MA in Economics from Dhaka University, started his career as a banker with Habib Bank Limited, Pakistan in 1969. He also worked as Economic Investigator, Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan in 1970.
Later, he joined the Bangladesh Observer, a leading national daily in 1971 and continued there until 1987. He also worked in the New Nation, the United News of Bangladesh (UNB) as executive editor, the Daily Star as economic editor, and in The Telegraph as deputy editor.
He was also associated with Press Institute of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha. He was a member of the board of directors of Janata Bank, a nationalised commercial bank of the country, for five years.
Mr Moazzem is also a director of ICB Securities Trading Company Ltd. He attended a number of seminars and workshops abroad mostly at the invitation of the host countries.
Because of his academic background and vast experience in the related field, it is expected that he will be able to contribute significantly to the qualitative improvement of the bank in his capacity as the director of Southeast Bank Limited.
