Feasibility study on constructing tunnel under Jamuna: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said the government will conduct a feasibility study on constructing a tunnel under the Jamuna River. She made the announcement while responding to a supplementary question from JP MP AKM Maidul Islam (Kurigram-3) during the PM’s question-answer session. The Prime Minister said the tunnel would be constructed from Bahadurabad to Balasi Ghat point. Hasina mentioned that a study is going on to construct a rail bridge over the Jamuna River from Bahadurabad to Fulchhari Ghat. Replying to a starred question from M Faridul Huq Khan (Jamalpur-5), the premier said the government is advancing a project for the construction of a second rail bridge over the Jamun River at Bahadurabad point, according to UNB.
