Interns at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) formed a human chain in front of the central Shahid Minar on Wednesday morning protesting the attack on their fellow Dr Sazzad Hossain, reports UNB.
Condemning the attack they demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the attackers around 11am.
Dr Mohiuddin Zilani, president of Intern Chikitshok Paridhad of DMCH, said, "This incident is not new as we often face such assault. We have a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University. He assured us that he will take necessary action to identify and punish the culprits."
"We also demanded the concerned to identify the attackers within tomorrow (Thursday). Otherwise, we will go on strike," he added.
On Monday night, some students of Dhaka University beat Dr Sazzad Hossen up at Central Shahid Minar premises without any valid reason, said the victim.
"Around 9pm of August 8, I sat on the premises of central Shahid Minar. Suddenly, some students of the University of Dhaka (wearing T-shirts with the logo of Dhaka University) appeared and started asking me about my identity and institution," Dr Sazzad wrote on his Facebook timeline.
