MANIKGANJ, Dec 26 (BSS): If the female voters could safely turn up at all the polling centres on December 29, they will determine who will win the election race this time as their number is higher than the male voters in Manikganj district.
Survey reports and individuals said that the presence of female voters, who are always more advanced in casting votes, is likely to surpass the previous records if proper security is ensured for them to come to the polling centres for exercising their rights of franchise.
There are 451,124 female voters and 418,179 male voters in all the three parliamentary seats of the district, district election commission sources said.
They said the number of female voters in Manikganj-1 seat surpassed the male voters by 7,284 out of the total 301,236 electorates.
Chairman of Atigram Union Parishad Nargis Akhter said the female voters in these three seats of the district are very active in taking part in the parliamentary polls. "They are much conscious in exercising their voting rights in the process of transfer of power," she said.
Ramiza Akhter, proprietor of a boutique training centre, said that the candidates in the district would have to depend on the votes of female electorates to win their election race in the Ninth parliamentary polls.
Her organization conducted a survey throughout the district and it said the female voters would choose the honest and competent candidates as Members of Parliament in the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad polls.
