Ferry service resumes after nine hours disruption at Maowa

Sunday, 30 December 2007

MUNSHIGANJ, Dec 29 (UNB): Ferry services resumed at Maowa ferry terminal Saturday morning after about nine hours of disruption due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
BIWTC sources said the ferry movement came to a complete halt around 1:00 am Friday due to the thick fog and resumed at about 10:00 am.
Over 500 vehicles, including buses and goods-laden trucks, had been stranded on Maowa and Kawrakanti sides following the disruption, the sources said.
Five ferries had also been stranded in the mid river.
