MANIKGANJ, Jan 11 (UNB): Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River resumed on Thursday morning after six hours of disruption caused by dense fog.
Mohiuddin Russel, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha, said they kept suspended ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route from 4 am to 10 am due to lack of visibility caused by thick fog.
One ferry remained motionless in the middle of the river.
More than 300 hundred vehicles, including buses, trucks and cars, remained stranded at Paturia ghat.
Five ferries with a good number of vehicles and passengers on board laid anchored at Daulatdia while eight ferries at Paturia.
Passengers suffered most as number of vehicles had to be kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing.
Later, ferry services resumed around 10 am as fog disappeared, said the BIWTC official.
