Festival of polling centre capturing: BNP

Thursday, 27 February 2014

Accusing the ruling party men of resorting to terrorism and vote fraud at many centres, BNP on Thursday said a grand festival of polling station capture was going on across the country in the second phase of upazila elections. “Our apprehension about vote fraud and influence of the ruling party on the elections has come true. The ruling party has indulged in a grand festival of polling centre capture at different parts of the country,” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. The BNP leader made the allegation at a press briefing at its Nayapaltan central office. Narrating the various incidents of ‘election fraud’ by the ruling party ‘cadres’, the BNP leader said Awami League men captured many centres forcing out BNP-backed candidates’ polling agents and attacked the opposition leaders and activists in different upazilas within two hours of the opening of the voting, according to UNB.
