Few steps to address the country's major problems

Wednesday, 16 September 2009

Load shedding, traffic jam and terrorism are few of the major problems in our country. In order to get rid of these problems, the following steps may be taken by the government immediately:
a) Load shedding can be reduced by prohibiting air conditions (A/C) usage from all govt., non-govt., semi govt. institutions including those of honourable Prime Minister's office, ministries and secretariats and equivalent offices at the district levels.
b) Introducing a number of A/C buses and installing A/Cs in all existing buses to help avoid the use of private cars can remove traffic jam. Again, de-centralizing Dhaka-based offices to the district level to help reduce pressure over Dhaka City can help in this connection. D.C office, D.E.O office, district-level LGED office, Roads & Highways' offices etc. may be given more financial and executive powers so that the people are not required to come to Dhaka frequently for simple matters.
Then, 'monorail' may be introduced over the Dhaka Safety Barrage (starting from Beribadh). Next, rail and bus services from and outside Dhaka need to be improved so that instead of staying at Dhaka people can come and back to and from Dhaka regularly. Moreover, office schedule of the secretariat may be re-arranged from 7:30 a.m to 2:30 p.m.
c) To eliminate terrorism from Bangladesh, police force must be reformed and ward-wise patrol force with motorbikes may be deployed beside RAB and this patrol force may be given new name. In addition to that, an A.S.P (BCS Police) must be made in-charge of each police station. Then, listed criminals may be deployed for good jobs. And most importantly, political leaders must not interfere with the police administration. At last, existing salaries and other benefits of all police personnel must be doubled, at least, to encourage them perform their duties sincerely and honestly.
