FFW continues creating jobs in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Mar 2 (BSS): Hundreds of the poor are being benefited from the ongoing Food for Work (FFW) programme with 1,486 tonnes wheat allocated by the government in Rangpur.
The work began from February 15 last, 134 development projects will be completed by mid-April next in all 83 unions of eight upazilas, District Relief, and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) of Rangpur Mokhlesur Rahman told the news agency today.
The Ministry of Food and Disaster Management allocated the wheat for creating employment of the poor through conducting rural infrastructure developments and maintenance activities in the district.
Under the programmes, construction, reconstruction, renovation, development, maintenance, earth filling and repairing work of the rural infrastructures, roads, ponds, embankments and other work are being conducted in rural areas.
Twenty-four development projects are being implemented at 268 tonnes of wheat in Sadar Upazila, 29 projects at 260 tonnes in Mithapukur, 15 projects at 213 tonnes in Pirganj, 13 projects at 175 tonnes in Pirgachha, 11 projects at 133 tonnes in Kawnia, 13 projects at 167 tonnes in Gangachara and 10 projects at 100 tonnes wheat in Taraganj Upazila.
