FIFA's golden ball award is given to the best footballer in each World Cup finals which is drawn up by the FIFA technical committee and the winner is voted by the representative of accredited media.
Currently, the golden ball award commercially named as "Adidas golden ball." It was officially introduced in1982 World Cup which was held in Spain. Like Olympics, it has silver ball and bronze ball award to evaluate 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Diego Forlan was voted 23.4 per cent, Wesley Snijder 21.8 per cent and David Villa 16.9 per cent.
FIFA's golden boot award is given to the highest scorer along with assists and timing in each World Cup. It is also known as the golden shoe award and commercially it is termed as "Adidas golden shoe award." It was introduced in 1930 FIFA World Cup which was held in Uruguay. Like Olympics, it has silver boot and bronze boot award to evaluate 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Thomas Muller was given 2010 golden boot award due to more assists than David Villa, Wesley Sneijder and Deigo Forlan.
Muller, Villa, Sneijder and Forlan each of them scored five World Cup goals, but Muller had three assists than the rest each had one assist. Villa won silver boot because he played fewer minutes than Snijder. Sneijder won bronze boot because he played fewer minutes than Forlan.
Besides, the 20-year old Muller also won the FIFA best young footballer award in 2010 World Cup.
The FIFA golden glove award is given to the best goalkeeper of the World Cup tournament. It was introduced in 1994 World Cup which was held in USA.
