FE REPORT
In the full text of a verdict, the High Court has made a 16-point recommendation for the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) with an eye to building a corruption-free Bangladesh.
The formation of an independent cadre service for recruitment of officials for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is among the recommendations.
The HC bench of Justice Md Ashraful Kamal gave the opinion in the verdict delivered after hearing two criminal appeal petitions filed by Md Kamruzzaman Sarkar and Md Abdur Rahim against their jail sentence.
The 78-page full judgment was published on the Supreme Court's website on Wednesday. The short verdict was pronounced on 14 December 2022.
According to the HC, Bangladesh will stand holding its head high globally as a corruption-free state in the next 10 years if effective steps are taken as per the suggestions.
The HC recommended that ACC officials be appointed through the same process and organisation that the Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission follows in appointing judges in subordinate courts.
