Final round of HSBC Environ Champions held

Surovi Saha Roy, a student of class 10 from Mohammadpur Preparatory School, secured the first place in "HSBC Environment Champions."
She received the recognition for her presentation on "Preventing Soil Erosion in Organic Method".
The final round of "HSBC Environment Champions", was held at a city hotel Thursday.
Sohail Rana, a student of class 10 from Rani Bilashmoni Govt. Boys High School, Gazipur came out second for his presentation on "Proper Waste Management" followed by Zahidur Rahamn, a student of class eight from Uttara High School who presented on "The Effect and Requiting of Jhum Cultivation in Hilly Areas".
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC in Bangladesh Steve Banner said, "This program is part of HSBC's commitment to raise awareness regarding environmental issues and it is particularly relevant in the context of Bangladesh as it is one of the countries which is particularly vulnerable to the effect of global warming".
"The endeavor that the contestants have put through their participation shows that they really can make a difference in this field individually and collectively," he added further.
M Sami Hafiz, Corporate Responsibility and Communications Manager of HSBC Bangladesh and Deputy Editor of the Daily Prothom Alo AKM Zakaria were present as the judges in the occasion.
HSBC launched "HSBC Environment Champions" earlier this year to promote awareness about the environment among the students of Bngladesh.
