M Murshed Haider | Thursday, 30 July 2015

If you do not have any finance/accounting background, the book 'Financial Intelligence' is a must read and designed specifically for you to know how to use financial data to make decisions, allocate resources and budget expenses.
Authors of this book are Karen Berman, Joe Knight and John Case. Karen Berman and Joe Knight are the owners of the Los Angeles-based Business Literacy Institute and have trained tens of thousands of managers at many leading organisations. Co-author John Case has written several popular books on management. Joe Knight mentioned that while they used to conduct training sessions for the executives as well as for the management teams of various firms, they have found a majority of them are lacking the basic concepts of finance. This is how they came up with this book. Through this book, the authors will take you behind the scenes, to show where the numbers come from.
This book is quite easy to understand and filled with entertaining stories from real companies. Specially the non-financial managers can not only have a solid foundation but also will know the practical strategies to improve their companies' performance strategies.
This book is extremely helpful for the businesspersons, especially for the young entrepreneurs from non-finance background. For any business, finance is the key and the numbers are quite significant. Being a businessperson, whether you go to a bank for financing or deliver your pitch before an angel investor or venture capital, numbers and financial figures always play a significant role to get the funding.
Inc. magazine termed this book as one of "the best, clearest guides to the numbers" on the market. Since its release in 2006, the readers are calling it a 'must-read' by saying it is exactly "what I need to know".
.Finally, this is fun to read and a great resource for making better financial decisions, effective management of people, technology and the business.
