Financial support for new ICT entrepreneurs stressed

Speakers at a roundtable have stressed on ensuring financial assistance for the new IT entrepreneurs so that they could implement their innovative ideas towards making the country an information technology hub in the region. They also urged the government along with the established IT firms to move forward as the mentor to guide the young professionals and university graduates to encourage them to devote their talents for the development of country’s IT industry. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as the chief guest. The roundtable, titled ‘How Can Establish a Silicon Bangladesh and Can it Help Drive the Development of a Brand Digital Bangladesh?’, was held in the city on Saturday. The experts put emphasis on formulating year-on-year basis plan and evaluation system for the IT sector. Addressing the programe, the state minister said, not only the government, the private sector has to move forward to guide the new entrepreneurs. He said the ICT division is discussing with Bangladesh Bank to provide financial assistance to the new entrepreneurs without any mortgage. ‘Apart from BUET, Dhaka University and other universities, the government is eyeing on establishing more IT institutes like MIT in the country, he added, according to BSS.
