Fined for violating tobacco law

An anti-tobacco mobile court fined six persons and two establishments a total of Tk 1,500 for violating tobacco (control) law 2005 Tuesday.
Magistrate Mohammad Kamruzaman in cooperation with the directorate of health services conducted a drive at Kamalapur Railway Station in the city and fined six persons a total of Tk 300 (Tk 50 each) for smoking in public places, said a press release of the directorate of public heath services.
The court also fined a shop for displaying a tobacco advertisement violating tobacco (control) law.
The same court also conducted an anti-tobacco drive in Hotel Sheraton and fined it Tk 1,000 for displaying an advertisement of Dun Hill brand cigarette.
