Fire at Chandpur market

A fire broke out at a bazaar (market) in Chandpur Sadar Upazila on Friday morning. Firefighters and local people said the fire, which erupted at a shop around 5:00am at Baharia Bazar, was sparked by electric short circuit. Soon the fire spread to adjoining shops and a godown. The blaze completely gutted three shops and a godown. The firefighters doused the blaze after three hours of hectic efforts with the help of the locals. No casualty was reported. The extent of loss caused by the fire could be several hundred thousand taka, affected traders of the market calimed, according to a news agency.
