Fire at city hospital, slum

The fire that broke out at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed (CRP) in the city's Mirpur area on Friday evening was extinguished after an hour, reports UNB.
Another fire broke out at a slum in the city's Mirpur area on Friday afternoon.
Assistant Director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (Dhaka) Rafiqul Islam said from CRP that the fire originated at the office room on the 9th floor of the 13-storey building of the centre, well known as Mirpur CRP, in Mirpur-14 at about 6:20 pm.
On information, seven firefighting units rushed in and brought the fire under control at about 7pm. The flame was completely doused around 7:30pm.
No one was injured in the fire incident as the office was closed on the weekly holiday of Friday, Rafiqul said, adding that all the patients were also evacuated safely.
Meanwhile, Fire service officials said the fire erupted from a shanty at Bhasentek slum around 01:13 pm and soon engulfed the adjacent shanties.
On information, five fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after one hour of frantic efforts.
The extent of loss caused by the fire was not assessed immediately.
