Wednesday, 26 November 2008

FE Report
A fire gutted some documents and computers at a brokerage house of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) early Tuesday.
The fire broke out at around 7:30 am at the Mona Financial Consultancy and Securities Ltd on the third floor of the main building of the country's prime bourse at Motijheel in the city.
On information, fire-fighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire within a short time.
According to a DSE official, the fire, however, could do no damage to any other brokerage house.
The fire might have originated from an electric short-circuit and some documents and computers were burnt, he added.
The DSE formed an inquiry committee to ascertain the cause of the fire.
The affected brokerage house continued the day's trading activities without any difficulty, as the trading server of the firm was not affected by the fire.
The brokerage house, however, suspended other customer services for the day following the trouble, said an official of the firm.
