Fire at jute mill at Kalurghat

CHITTAGONG, Jan 7: A jute mill at Kalurghat in the city caught fire in the early hours today.
Fire office at Kalurghat Industrial Area said the jute godown of Chittagong Jute Manufacturing Industries Ltd at Mohra on the west bank of the river Karnafuli caught fire at around 5.0 am.
Two units of fire fighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire before it damaged the jute in the storage and the adjacent oil tank of the mill owned by Nizamuddin Khaled, a private entrepreneur.
Fire office said the cause of the incident was yet to be ascertained.
