Fire at Suhrawardy hospital and doctors' humanitarian job

Tuesday, 19 February 2019

A devastating fire broke out in the Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital last Thursday evening. It took the fire fighters about two and a half hours to tame the fire. There was no serious damage.
When the fire engulfed the hospital, there were as many as 1,200 patients including those from the intensive care unit (ICU) and surgical department. A rescue operation was led by the doctors. The doctors along with intern doctors, medical assistants, other staff and the people who came forward from surrounding areas worked hard for the evacuation. Obviously, fire brigade and law enforcement agencies joined hands in the rescue operation.
The doctors provided medical care and treatment until the patients were shifted to other hospitals. I am overwhelmed by their noble work. I would like to salute them for their selfless humanitarian job.
