Fire breaks out at CEPZ

CHITTAGONG, Mar 14: A fire broke out at a factory at Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) in the city on Friday morning. Fire service officials said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at the factory Sanko Optical Co (BD) Limited, a Japanese company, at about 7am and it soon engulfed the entire factory. On information, three fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after one and a half hours of frantic efforts. The extent of loss caused by the fire was estimated at Tk 1.0 million (10 lakh).     — UNB
