Fire breaks out at Gazipur factory; 1 killed

Firefighters recovered the body of a man from a button factory at Bhangnahati in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district after it caught fire on Sunday afternoon, reports UNB.
Fire fighters recovered the body from inside the factory, said Mamunur Rashid, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
The fire started at the factory around 1:45 pm and spread soon, said Khairul Islam Rony, station officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD).
Local people said they heard sound of explosions from the spot possibly due to presence of chemicals at the factory.
Smoke billowing from the factory covered the whole area, panicking the people.
Seven firefighting units brought the fire under control around 3:45 pm.
However, what caused the fire could not be known immediately.
