Fire breaks out at Savar garment factory

SAVAR, Nov 23: Valuables of an export-oriented garment factory at Karnapara under the municipality here were gutted in a fire Friday. Local sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit in the factory, Ofazuddin Spinning Mill, and soon burned cotton and machinery on the ground floor at about 8:00 am. On information, two units of the local fire brigade rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after one hour of efforts. Garments authorities estimated the losses at about Tk 1.0 million (10 lakh). A General Diary (GD) was filed with the police station concerned. — UNB
