Fire burns down 10 shops in Laxmipur

Ten shops were gutted by a fire that broke out at Chandraganj Paschim Bazar in Sadar upazila early Tuesday. The fire originated at a shop around 5am from an electrical short circuit around and it soon engulfed nine other adjoining business establishments, including a pharmacy, said M Salauddin, manager at Laxmipur Fire Station. On information, two firefighting units rushed in and doused the fire after one hour, he said. Prima facie, the extent of losses caused by the fire was estimated at Tk 20 lakh, according to a news agency.
