Fire damages Ashuganj power plant

Wednesday, 12 November 2014

A fire at Ashuganj thermal power plant at Brahmanbaria has led to the closing of two units capable of producing 120MW of electricity. The central transformer at 128-KV Sub-station’s switch yard exploded and caught fire around 3am Wednesday. One unit of the Ashuganj Fire Service doused the fire after 30 minutes. The incident comes barely two weeks after ‘a flaw in the internal grid’ caused a countrywide power outage, according to bdnews24.com.
