Fire guts 11 shops in Mymensingh, Madaripur

MYMENSINGH, Dec 15 (UNB): A fire that broke out at Balipara Bazar under Trishal Upazila here Saturday gutted six shops.
Fire Brigade sources said the fire originated in a shop from an electric short circuit at about 4:30 am and soon engulfed the other shops.
On information, firefighters from Sadar Upazila rushed to the spot and put out the blaze at about 7:00 am.
Fire fighters estimated the extent of damage by the fire at Tk 3.0 million.
Another report from Madaripur adds: A fire gutted five shops and a hotel at Bahadurpur Bazar under Shibchar Upazila Saturday.
Witnesses said the fire that originated at about 3:30 am, gutted five shops, including two furniture shops, a pharmacy and a hotel. Reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
On information, the firefighters rushed to the spot and put out the blaze after one hour frantic efforts.
