Fire guts 60 houses

At least 60 houses were burned down by a fire which broke out at a house at Sukatipara village at Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on Sunday night. Locals said the fire originated from a kitchen of a house at the village at about 8:00 pm and it soon engulfed 59 other adjoining houses. On information, a fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and doused the fire after one hour of frantic efforts. Azizul Islam, station master of Thakurgaon Fire Service, said the extent of loss from the fire could go up to Tk 2.5 million, according to UNB.
