Fire guts goods worth Tk three million

At least five shops have been burnt to ashes by a fire at Boalia Bazar in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila. The extent of loss caused by the fire was estimated at Tk three million. Locals said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a grocery shop at the bazar on Sunday night. Soon th fire engulfed four adjoining shops. On information, three firefighting units from Sadar and Tungipara fire stations rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after about 2 hours of hectic efforts. Quoting firefighters and the affected shop owners, Jakir Hossain Molla, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said that goods worth Tk three million were gutted by the fire, according to a news agency.
