Fire guts RMG unit depot

A fire gutted a storeroom of a readymade garment (RMG) factory at Savar's Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka city, on Friday evening. Fire-fighters doused the flames one-and-a-half-hour after it broke out around 6pm, said DEPZ Fire Service's Station Officer Abdul Hamid Mia. However, Industrial Police officials said there were no immediate reports of casualties. Mia said the fire originated from the storage on the ground floor of the four-storey factory, ‘Z-A Apparels Limited’, situated in Ashulia’s Kuturia. The flames then spread very quickly. He said six units of fire-fighters from Savar, DEPZ and Dhamrai Fire Service and Civil Defence stations tamed the blaze, according to a news agency.
