Fire guts shops, godowns in Barguna

A devastating fire broke out at a market in Barguna Sadar upazila early Wednesday, gutting at least 10 shops and several godowns. Local people said the fire originated from a solar mobile phone charger at a shop at ‘Chhoto Gourichanna Mirer Haat’ around 3:30am and it soon engulfed nine other adjoining shops, godowns and thatched houses. Locals doused the blaze after several hours of frantic efforts before a firefighting unit came to the spot. The extent of losses from the fire was estimated at Tk 6 million, according to UNB.
