Fire guts shops in Chandpur

At least four shops were gutted in a fire at Kachua upazila in Chandpur n Monday. Locals said the fire erupted from a shop at Shilasthan Miaji Bazar in the morning and it soon spread rapidly engulfing adjoining shops. On information, a firefighting unit from Kachua town rushed in and doused the blaze after several hours’ of frantic efforts with the help of local people. But by that time, four shops were burnt to ashes, and another one damaged. At least, 10 people received burn injuries while extinguishing the flame. They were taken to the upazila health complex and clinics. The extent of loss caused by the blaze was estimated at Tk 1.5 million, according to UNB.
