Fire gutted 400 shanties in Chittagong

CHITTAGONG, Mar 7: A devastating fire has gutted about 400 non-brick houses at the Amin Jute Mill Colony at Hamzarbag area under Baizid police station in the city today. The fire broke out at around 3.00 pm from a kitchen in the colony where most of the jute mill workers and some female workers of readymade garment industries reside. Fire fighters said they doused the fire in more than two hours but they had to face trouble in the narrow lanes through the colony.
