Fire gutted several shops in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Nov 7 (UNB): A devastating fire gutted five shops including a pharmacy and a hotel completely and four others partially at Nakulhati Bazar in Nagarkanda Upazila early Monday.
Police and local people said the fire broke out from an electric short circuit at a shop at about 3 pm and engulfed the nearby pharmacy, several grocery shops and a hotel.
On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze fire under control after one-hour of frantic efforts with the help of local people.
The affected shop owners claimed that cash and valuables worth over Tk 1.2 million were gutted in the fire.
