Commerce Minister M Faruk Khan claimed Wednesday that prices of daily commodities were stable and hinted that Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will soon import pulse from Nepal.
He said "The prices of essentials are quite stable and the price of rice which recently increased by Tk 1 to Tk 2 was negligible."
He was speaking to reporters after the inaugural ceremony of Fire Retardant (FR) Cables of Macro Cable Ltd at a city hotel.
The minister hoped the price will come down with the arrival of new Boro rice in the market and the price of pulse will remain within the purchasing capacity of the people.
He said FR cables are getting more popular locally and in foreign countries and we should keep pace with the development.
"As electrification is often carried out at the end of building construction it is more likely that factory or house owners spend little amount from the left over of the budget," said president of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters’ Association (BKMEA) Fazlul Haque.
Macro Cable Ltd Chairman Chaudhury A Shoaib and Trust Bank Managing Director Shah Alam Sarwar, among others, spoke at the launching ceremony.
