Firearm, bullets recovered

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel recovered a firearm, 6 rounds of bullet and 2 magazines at Singnagar border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Friday night. BGB-9 Battalion Director Lieutenant Colonel Abu Jafar Sheikh Mohamamd Bazlul Haque said a BGB patrol team found the firearm and ammunitions lying in an abandoned condition at the main Pillar No. 171 within 300 yards of Bangladesh territory around 8:15pm. They recovered the arms and ammo. None was arrested in this connection. Besides, another team of BGB recovered 148 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from Telkupi at the frontier. Meanwhile, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested a man along with 399 bottles of liquor from Maharajpur Pukurtuli area in Sadar upazila. The arrestee was identified as Abu Taleb, 25, son of Dulal Ali of Chaktola village in the upazila, according to a news agency.
