Firearms depositing deadline Dec 3

The government has asked the owners of authorised firearms to deposit those in their nearby police stations from November 20 to December 3. The decision was taken to maintain law and order in the country, as the national and local-body elections are slated for the next month. The firearms would remain deposited in the respective police stations until January 5. Besides, the renewal of firearms licenses in Dhaka district, including the metropolitan city, for the year 2009 would begin from December 1 and continue until January 31. — UNB
