Firm gets nod to export cow head skins

FE REPORT | Thursday, 3 August 2023

The government has allowed a local company to export 200 tonnes of skins of cow head and trimming-scraps of rawhides.
The permission, awarded Tuesday, will remain effective until June 30 next year, according to a commerce ministry source.
The firm, ANA International Co. Ltd, will have to export such products complying with the Export Policy-2021-24 and completing physical examinations by the customs authorities.
Necessary documents will have to be submitted to the commerce ministry after completion of shipments. Besides, the trader has been barred from exporting other hides.
The product is not exactly raw cowhide rather scrap parts of cow head and skin separated while trimming rawhides.
According to an official at the commerce ministry, different companies exported salted hairy bovine hides of cows last year, taking permission from the ministry. More applications are now pending with the ministry, seeking permission for exporting various types of hides, he added.
