First BATEXPO kicks off in Paris

A 3-day Bangladesh Apparel and Textile Exposition (BATEXPO) 2014 began at Saint Denis in Paris Tuesday.
BATEXPO is being held outside the country for the first time, said a BGMEA press release, according to a news agency.
Bangladesh Ambassador to France M Shahidul Islam inaugurated the expo.
President of France-Bangladesh Economic Chamber Kazi Enayet Ullah, Directors of BGMEA KhandokerRafiqul Islam and Syed Sadek Ahmed, and former Director of French-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Syed Moazzam Hossain also spoke at the inaugural session which was presided over by Minhajul Islam, Chief Co-coordinator of BATEXPO in Paris 2014.
A good number of buyers and retailers’ representatives have visited the expo on the first day.
A total of 55 garment and textile manufacturing units of Bangladesh are participating in the expo.
BGMEA President M Atiqul Islam will be joining the fair from Wednesday and will present in the closing ceremony on September 18.
