First Covid death in a month

Daily cases dip to 16

The country reported one death and 16 cases from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till 8am Saturday.
The last death from coronavirus in the country was recorded on April 20.
Besides, 172 more patients recovered from the deadly viral disease, taking the recovery rate to 97.31 per cent, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
The latest additions took the country's total numbers of cases and recoveries to 1,953,204 and 1,900,747 respectively while the death toll from it remained unchanged at 29,128.
A total of 3,927 samples were tested across the country during the 24-hour period, the press note of health department said. On Friday, 50 coronavirus cases were detected in the country.
The country reported its first zero death from Covid in a single day on November 20 last year, along with 178 infections, since the pandemic broke out in Bangladesh in March 2020.
On January 28, Bangladesh logged its previous highest daily positivity rate at 33.37 per cent reporting 15,440 cases and 20 deaths.
