First-ever Bangla OCR launched

'Puthi', the country's first-ever Bangla Optical Character Recogniser (OCR), was launched on Thursday, aiming to digitise, archive, search and edit all types of contents written in Bangla. Team Engine Ltd, a local company, has launched the first complete Bangla OCR with a hope that this technology and software will support Bengali-speaking people and those interested in Bangla all over the world. Finance Minister AMA Muhith formally launched the OCR at a simple ceremony at city's Cirdap auditorium. This new Bangla OCR can digitise new-old, all types of books and documents written in Bangla and anyone does not need hours to data entry or search manually anymore to find necessary information.     — UNB
