First ever Broadband Expo kicks off in city tomorrow

The first-ever Broadband Expo 2026 is set to take place in the capital from April 13 to 15, aiming to showcase the development, innovation and future potential of Bangladesh's broadband sector.
The three-day exhibition will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre, where stakeholders will present the current state of the industry, emerging technologies and future plans.
Organised by the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh, the expo was formally announced at a press conference held at the association's Banani office on Saturday.
The theme of this year's event is "Linking People, Linking Future".
ISPAB President Mohammad Aminul Hakim said the platform would be used to highlight industry concerns and submit formal proposals to the government, while also engaging consumers with the latest innovations in broadband technologies.
According to organisers, Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan will attend the inauguration ceremony as chief guest on April 13. Prime Minister's Adviser Rehan A Asad, Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Abdun Naser Khan, and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Major General (retd) Emdad Ul Bari are expected to join as special guests.
The closing ceremony on April 15 will be attended by Posts, Telecommunications and IT Minister Fakhrul Mahbub Anam as chief guest. Other expected attendees include Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam, ICT Division Secretary Kazi Anwar Hossain, and BTRC Vice Chairman Abu Bakar Siddique.
The expo will remain open to visitors from 10:00am to 8:00pm on the first two days, and from 10:00am to 5:00pm on the final day.
Around 25 innovative projects based on robotics and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, developed by university students, will be showcased. An experience zone will allow visitors to interact directly with these innovations.
In addition, a range of IT and telecommunications companies will exhibit their services, software, hardware and network solutions. The exhibition will feature 10 pavilions, 35 mini pavilions and 20 stalls.
Among the key sponsors, Fiber@Home Limited and Summit Communications Limited are serving as platinum sponsors. Diamond sponsors include Amber IT Limited, C-DATA, OFS Cables and Race Online Limited, while a number of firms are participating as gold sponsors, reflecting broad industry engagement in the inaugural event.
