Fish fry released in Gaibandha rivers

GAIBANDHA, June 26 (BSS): Police administration today released a good quantity of fish fry in the Brahmaputra and the Ghagot rivers of the district to enhance fish production.
Additional inspector general of police (AIGP) M. Moklesur Rahman formally released fish fry in the Brahmaputra river in Balashighat area under Fulchhari upazila this afternoon as the chief guest.
Divisional inspector general of police, Rangpur range Humayun Kabir was present as special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, AIGP Rahman said as the fisheries sector has been meeting 70 per cent demand of the total animal protein, there is no alternative to fish production in large scale through best use of the existing water bodies in changed environment.
In this context, he urged all to come forward with the mentality to culture fish by releasing fish fry on the rivers and other water bodies of the country to meet the nutrition demand for the growing people of the country.
Deputy commissioner M. Abdus Samad, police super Ashraful Islam and other police officials accompanied the AIGP during the fish fry release in the river.
A total of one lakh fish fry of Ruhi, Katla and Mrigel, were released in the rivers, said an official.
