Wednesday, 24 June 2015
Fitra, a charity done by well-off Muslims at the end of Ramadan month, has been fixed at Tk60 for this year (2015). A meeting at Islamic Foundation decided the minimum rate on Wednesday afternoon. Last year the amount was fixed at Tk 65. With the money one can either buy 1.65 kilograms (kg) of wheat or flour or 3.3kg of raisin or cheese for distribution among the poor during Sadkatul Fitr or Fitra before the Holy Eid-ul-Fitr congregation. Islamic Foundation finalised Fitra starting from Tk 60 to Tk 1,650 in accordance with the market price for these commodities, its director ANM Sirajul Islam said. According to Islamic rituals, it is Wazib or desirable for all well-off Muslims to give Fitra. A father must pay the Fitra for his adolescent children and distribute it before the Eid-ul-Fitr congregation, according to bdnews24.com.
