Five car hijackers held: Two cars recovered

CHITTAGONG, Apr 20: Car hijackings by armed youths in guise of DB police and RAB using black-coloured sophisticated microbuses and cars have increased alarmingly in the port city while the cases of recovery of the stolen cars are thin, police officials said. The metropolitan police said a very strong syndicate is acting from behind the scene and the police have made some successful operations to check it. The Detective Branch of CMP arrested four such hijackers, driver of a stolen car and recovered two cars from Dhaka and Chittagong yesterday. Police said a Bensons colour Hayes (Dhaka Metro Ga-13-3779) car used by the bandits was detained from the city's Mehdibag area while the stolen X-Corolla car (Chatta Metro Ga-12-1215) was recovered from Dhaka-Aricha highway near Gono Swasthya Medical College under Ashulia of Dhaka. A team of the DB (Bandar) headed by sub-inspector Md Aziz Ahmed also arrested the car hijackers Babul Hossain Babul (20), the gang leader, Alamgir Hossain Zihad (22), Md Tarek Hossain (25), Mazharul Alam Bulbul (24) and Md Ratan Meah.(30), driver of the car stolen and sold.
