Five-day Baishakhi Mela begins in city

A five-day Baishakhi Mela (Baishakhi Fair) began on the premises of Democracywatch at Circuit House Road in the city Friday, reports UNB.
Democracywatch, a human rights organisation, in cooperation with Basanta Handicrafts is organising the fair.
Inaugurating the fair, President of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce Industry Selima Ahmad called upon all to work together for the development of women entrepreneurs.
The function was also addressed, among others, by eminent social workers Latifa Akand and Tahrunnesa Abdullah. Handicrafts produced by 50 women entrepreneurs have been put on display at the fair.
