Five drown in Ctg, N’ganj

A woman, who was an epileptic patient, and a minor boy drowned in Patiya and Boalkhali upazilas of Chattogram respectively on Monday, reports UNB.
The dead are Ruma Dey (45), wife of Sharat Dey of Suchakradandi area under ward No.2 of Patiya municipality and two-year-old Md Taisirul, son of Md Tarke of Paschim Gomandi Bahadd-arhapara under ward No.9 of Boalkhali municipality.
According to the family, Ruma went to the pond to take a bath around 7:00 am but didn't return for a long time.
As she was not found, a local team of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) department accompanied by a diver team from the city recovered her body from the pond around 9:00 am, said Patiya Fire Service's station master Saiful Islam.
On the other hand, family members found Taisirul's floating body in a pond around an hour after it went missing.
Meanwhile, in Narayanganj, three schoolgirls drowned in a pond while taking a bath in Golakandail union of Rupganj upazila under Narayanganj district on Sunday afternoon.
The dead are Afsana Akter Maria, daughter of Rukan Uddin of Gandyabpur area of Tarab municipality in Rupganj upazila, Subarna Akter, daughter of Salam Mia of Durgapur area of Netrokona district and Maria, daughter of Roman Mia of Nabiganj upazila under Habiganj district. All the dead were students of Horgaon Government Primary School.
