Five held ‘for kidnapping businessman’ in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 03 (BSS): The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive has arrested five people for their alleged involvement in kidnapping a businessmen in Khulna city.
The arrested are Razu Sheikh, Saiful Islam Molla, Hozaifa Al Bari, Rana Beg and Russel Moulangi
Niru Molla (50), a businessman and owner of two brick kilns and a filling station at Bejoypasha village under Sadar upazila of Gopalganj district, was abducted from the Mayuri residential area, near Sonadanga Central Bus Terminal on Tuesday morning.
Niru was coming to Khulna by his own microbus from Gopalganj around 6.30 am. As his microbus reached near the main gate of the Mayuri residential area around 7.45 am, eight to ten men ridding motorcycles put a barricade in front of the microbus carrying the businessman and finally kidnapped him at gun point.
The abductors took him to a nearby area and tortured him physically and mentally and demanded Tk 50 million as ransom, giving a personal account number of one SM Shamsuzzaman with Agrani Bank Goalpara Branch of the city.
Victim Niru Molla phoned his filling station manager Mafiqul to send Tk 5.0 million immediately to the bank account to save his life from an unidentified place, says a press release.
Receiving information from victim's wife and his elder brother Siraz Molla, a special RAB team conducted a series of drive and arrested five abductors along with the microbus from Gutudia Al Aksa area under Harintana thana in the city.
The arrested were handed to over Harintana thana and a case was filed in this connection.
