Five injured, 50 houses gutted in N\\\'ganj fire

A devastating fire gutted 50 dwelling houses in Fatullah area in the outskirts of Narayanganj city early Friday. Police, locals and hospital sources said the fire burned one person while four others received injuries as they tried to douse the flame. Local people and firefighters said, the fire broke out in a slum around 11.30pm near depots of ‘Meghna’ and ‘Jamuna’ oil companies on the Dhaka-Narayanganj Old Road. Being informed, several fire fighting units rushed to the spot from different fire stations in Narayanganj and Dhaka, and doused the fire early Friday. One person sustained burns and four other people were injured while trying to douse the fire, a fire service official said. The injured were rescued and rushed to a local hospital, according to a news agency.
